Our professionals are trained to listen carefully to your problems and to support you while you find your own solutions. The relationship between a professional and a client is confidential and is based on respect and trust. Counselling helps you to discover the reasons for unwanted or difficult feelings and to work out ways of dealing with them. It is a time for you to express feelings such as fear, anger and confusion in a safe, supportive environment. You will not be criticised, judged or put under pressure to do or feel anything. Your counsellor will help you find solutions that are realistic and workable for you.
Counselling should help you take control of your life and to understand the reasons why you feel the way you do, which may help you to handle these feelings in the future. You may learn different ways of communicating with others so you can become more assertive, or you may develop greater self-respect. Often it is only when we talk to someone unconnected with our lives that we begin to hear what we are really saying and feeling, and gain some clarity for the way forward.
e-Counselling is counselling via the Internet.
It is a similar process to in-person counselling but is conducted online via our website, AskEAP.
AskEAP is EAP Services’ confidential and totally secure e-Counselling option that is available directly through EAP Services' website – eapservices.co.nz. The service allows clients to connect with an EAP Professional from any system with Internet access.
AskEAP is a viable, alternative source of support when ‘in-person’ counselling or telephone counselling is not convenient, accessible or preferred. e-Counselling is particularly useful to those who work or live in remote locations, have difficulty attending in-person counselling because of personal or work commitments, or who work outside New Zealand.
For in-person counselling please contact EAP Services Limited on 0800 EAP NOW (327 669) or email us here.
EAP Services has made the AskEAP process safe and secure by utilising the following security methods:
Ways that you, the client, can make this process safe: If others have access to your computer, make sure you log out of any Live Chat or Web Journal session completely, by using the Log Out button. Do not share your personal AskEAP login credentials with anyone. Only use a computer you know has up-to-date virus protection and that this is activated.
We have a great team of e-Professionals at AskEAP, who all have experience in different areas.

At AskEAP our e-Professionals all belong to a range of professional bodies including NZAC, NZACC and NZAP. The professionals abide by their code of ethics relating to counselling and specifically online counselling.
It is unethical for us to answer you anonymously. You will always know who is answering your Web Journal, as the professional will always sign their name.
When you receive Chat Therapy, we endeavour to place you with a e-Professional whom we feel will best meet your needs. You will be advised of your e-Professional's name and qualifications when you make your appointment.
Yes. We would only change your e-Professional at your request.
Yes, you can request a different e-Professional, but we recommend you think carefully before doing this. Sometimes it is necessary for Counsellors to tell us things that we would prefer not to hear, or encourage us to look at things that we would prefer to forget and this is all part of the work. If you are having problems with your e-Professional you should mention this to them to see if a solution can be found before making the decision to change.
Please contact EAP Services immediately for assistance on 0800 EAP NOW (327 669)
Normally we will respond to your Web Journal within two business days.
All correspondence is via our specially designed website.
To view your response simply login to AskEAP then select the Web Journal menu.
When you have a new reply from your e-Professional, you will see a notification at the top of the page. Click on the Web Journal to view the response. You can review all your previous Web Journals and responses from the same page.
